LACHLAN REGIONAL TRANSPORT COMMITTEE
Minutes of the Ordinary Meeting held at Lithgow Workers Club on Saturday November 5th 2016
The meeting is recorded for minute taking purposes then erased. The Chairman Dom Figliomeni welcomed everyone to the meeting and wished all members and office holders a successful year ahead.
ATTENDANCE: There were thirty three members in attendance
APOLOGIES: As per the attendance book with thirteen apologies.
MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING: The minutes of the meeting held in Boorowa at the Boorowa Services Club be accepted. Moved S Freudenstein Seconded J Hannan CARRIED.
SECRETARY’S REPORT AND CORRESPONDANCE:
The Secretary tabled correspondence for the information of members and it was circulated for their perusal.
TREAUSERS REPORT: Dennis Hughes presented his report to the meeting and the financial statements to October were circulated for the information. D Hughes said there was sufficient funds in the account with a balance of $7,572.33. The Secretary and Treasurers Reports were Moved D Hughes Seconded CARRIED.
REPORTS:
Annie Chatfield – Centurion Group: Annie presented a brief on the workings of the Centurion Group outlining their projects and goals in regard to rail and transport generally and the information was very informative to the meeting. Dom thanked both Annie and John for their attendance and hope they continue to be part of LRTC.
TK Rivera – Lachlan Shire: Commented on the substantial damage caused by flooding recently and hoped government funding would be available to repair damage.
Hilltops Council: Didn’t have anything to add.
Weddin Shire: Craig Bembrick commented on the road situation following floods and the need for urgent repairs. Road diversions through Weddin etc. as a result of other roads closed
Cabonne Shire Council: Anthony Durkin made general comment and the inaction due to possible amalgamation and ongoing repairs to roads. Need to push for rail urgently
Mayor of Cowra: Bill West also made comment of the state of roads and the need for funding to complete repairs.
Wollondilly Shire Council: Judith Hannan commented about the continued expansion of their area and the progress on the airport etc.
Lachlan Valley Rail: R Norris commented on the license available. Reopening the section of line between Cowra to Woodstock and a license to operate same .John Holland is not being cooperative at all. Dom Figliomeni made comment that we need to solicit ideas from members on what transport issues that are important to each area and put a list together. Asked for discussion. TK Rivera talked about funding for corridors. We will write to all members asking for ideas, thoughts etc. and hopefully we can get it reviewed for the next meeting. B West supports Dom’s idea and take it to the next step and look at Maldron line as well. This was Moved M Simpson Seconded S Freudenstein. CARRIED.
D Hughes said we have one new member Council which is Temora Shire Council and Dennis will invoice Councils relevant fees
GENERAL BUSINESS:
J Faukes: Commented on the Nowra activates and tourist trains in that area.
Eddy Wilkinson – Canowindra: Made comment regarding social media and particularly Facebook as a marketing tool to gain exposure of LRTC’s activates, goals and objectives. He is going to review it for the next meeting.
M Simpson: Said that Barry Holland is not well and keep him in our thoughts.
There will be a tour of the Lithgow Rail Workshop following the meeting and Tim Elderton will be our guide. Dom thanked Tim for his time and organising a short train ride as well.
Suggestions on the next meeting were expressed and we will approach Temora Shire Council. Eddy Wilkinson from Canowindra has expressed he is happy to have a meeting in Canowindra as well and hopefully this will occur in mid-2017.
Payment was approved for the meeting fees and lunch at Lithgow Workers Club
